FREQUENTLY ASKED KISSTIONS

Q: So what is KISS?

A: It’s a unique annual arts festival, held in picturesque Kiama.

Q: How much does it cost?

A: Drumroll please… it’s FREE! You’re welcome.

Q: Arts, like paintings?

A: Nope. Arts like performing artists, comedy, music, fire juggling, international street acts, fun and general mayhem. It’s more of a fringe festival – by the sea.

Q: Wow, and this is in the small town of Kiama?

A: I know, right?

Q: Why is it called KISS?

A: Originally it stood for “Kiama International Sea Side” arts festival, but these days we just think of it as a big smoochy KISS for those who love to have fun.

Q: So I won’t be required to kiss anyone?

A: Not if you don’t want to. (But Kiki can get frisky.)

Q: Why Kiama?

A: Kiama is probably, definitely, maybe the most beautiful small town in Australia, so why not? It’s a great weekend getaway and you’d struggle to find a better backdrop than this.

Q: Will there be juggling?

A: Yes, absolutely!

Q: Will there be giggling?

A: Of course!

Q: Will there be snuggling?

A: If it gets cold, we expect so, yes.

Q: Actually, speaking of weather, what happens if it rains?

A: The show must go on! Rain or shine (but we hope shine).

Q: What time does everything happen?

A: The fun at Black Beach, Kiama takes place across Saturday and Sunday. There's a special adults only show on Friday and Saturday in The Kazador as well.

Q: I’m from out of town. Where would you recommend staying?

A: OMG, great question! Check out options here. We can’t wait to see you!

Q: Can I catch the train from Sydney?

A: Yes – it’s electric all the way to Kiama and takes roughly 2:20hrs from Central. It’s a nice trip and the station is 2 minutes from the KISS village!

Q: Are there ways to join in?

A: Yes! This is an interactive festival, so there's plenty of way to get involved including the Ray White Raft Race on the Sunday, to making and parading gorgeous lanterns on the Saturday.

Q: Can I buy food at the event?

A: Yes, there will be food stalls and our “Café de Rude” in the village, plus supporter Pennywhistlers café just over the road.

Q: Can I come and go as I please?

A: Of course! There are no gates or fences or stamps on hands here. KISS a little, KISS a lot, no judgement.

Q: Are the main stage acts free?

A: Absolutely, but many rely on donations to keep doing what they do and travel to events like this. If you enjoyed yourself, feel free to give what you can.

Q: How many fingers am I holding up?

A: Three.

Q: Okay, what’s the difference between a ‘festival’ and a ‘fest’?

A: Nothing at all. They’re both awesome.

Q: What are this year’s acts?

A: Some great local and international talent, follow us on Facebook or stay tuned to this website to find who's on each year!

Q: Have you seen my car keys?

A: They’re on the bench, under that pile of stuff.

Q: And finally, will KISS change my life?

A: It WILL change your life! You’ll live longer. And become richer. And more attractive.  Or hey, at the very least, you’ll enjoy a weekend filled with unique experiences and Instagram moments.

Q: Who wrote this Q and A?

A: Someone awesome!
